Your Therapist

Life in recovery can be challenging. Others might question if you are still sober. Or ask if you’ve been to a meeting today. This can feel frustrating, overwhelming and even isolating. As an addiction specialist for over 10yrs, I can tell you, you are not alone in this. I will work right along side you to help maintain the recovery you’ve worked so hard for. In our sessions, you will learn how to answer those frustrating questions, have better boundaries with others, and communicate how you feel when your sobriety comes into question. Our sessions will be a safe space where you can focus on yourself while feeling heard. I provide a direct and empathetic approach, so please do not be afraid to say what you want in session!

Addiction has run deep in my family for several generations. Maybe the same is true for you and your family? What we have learned is that addiction does not “just happen”. My superpower is working through that generational trauma that may have been caused by addiction so that you can break the cycle.

Why I became a therapist: there isn’t just one specific reason that I decided to become a therapist, but rather several events in my life led up to this path for me. I was that rebellious teenager who thought I knew all the answers and eventually found myself in some tricky situations as a young adult. I ended up not having a positive experience with the counselors that I came across, so I decided to do something about that. Once I completed my degrees, I realized that I needed to be that safe, positive space for others. I fully believe that if you can make a difference in just one persons life, then you have succeeded. I believe in counseling and know that it can help….you just have to find the right person. I hope I can be that person for you!

And a little more about me….I’ve lived in Texas for 20 years, but I’m originally from Kansas so of course I’m a huge Chiefs fan! I served in the U.S. Navy for 4yrs as an Aviation Electrician working on F-14’s. I have 3 grown children, a new grandson and an awesome husband. We also have an adorable St. Bernard named Lollie! I try to practice what I preach to my clients so my self-care involves listening to music, going on walks, reading, or just trying to keep up with this crazy Texas weather.

I would be honored to work with you, so please reach out now!
